Joshua Flinn: A Passion for Open Water Swimming
We are incredibly excited to welcome Joshua Flinn as an official Ambassador for openwaterswim.app!
Based on Oahu, Hawaii, Josh embodies the spirit of our app. Having grown up immersed in the ocean, he has a deep-rooted passion for the water and the vibrant open water swimming community. While he chose soccer as a sport early on, the ocean called him back full-time, and he now swims virtually every day, a dedication that inspires us all.
Beyond his daily swims, Josh is also a talented tattoo artist who brings a unique, artistic perspective to our community. His connection to the ocean, the islands, and the sport makes him the perfect advocate for openwaterswim.app.
Josh is one of the early pioneers of open water tracking, having used his Apple Watch to log swims before the capability was widespread. He understands the core value of our app—providing swimmers with the data and community they need to pursue their passion.

Scott Milbert: A Passion for Open Water Swimming
At 56 years old, Scott Milbert has a lifelong passion for swimming that began at the tender age of 8. His early days were marked by competitive swimming during his time at UMass Amherst, laying the foundation for an enduring love for the water. Though life's commitments led him to step away from competitive swimming, his connection with the sport never waned.
In 2022, Scott rekindled his passion through open water swimming, quickly developing a profound addiction to this exhilarating activity. Since then, he has conquered several significant challenges including 10Ks, a monumental 20K, an ambitious 8-mile swim, and even completed a grueling 30K. His adventurous spirit extends beyond the local waters as he's taken "swim vacations" across international destinations such as Montenegro and Sardinia in Italy.
With his sights set on new horizons, Scott is now contemplating an extraordinary goal: swimming a 10K in every U.S. state. This ambition reflects not only his dedication to open water swimming but also his desire to explore the diverse landscapes of America through its waters. Whether navigating local lakes or international seas, Scott Milbert embodies the spirit of adventure and the unwavering pursuit of passion.
